FUELLED BY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
After over two decades in agencies working in client services, then strategy & planning, 23 years of which with undiagnosed ADHD I saw and experienced the good, bad, and ugly of working in an industry that seemed the perfect fit for my inquisitive, curious, entrepreneurial mind. But the reality was often brutal. Burnout, anxiety, and damaged self confidence that comes from having to second guess and sense check everything your brain does to make sure you’re delivering to expectations.
I thought I just wasn’t cut out for the industry. After 23 years of surviving and feeling held back by my own actions.
Then I found out I have ADHD. And realised that my divergent brain is the perfect fit for the demands of our industry, no more so than now when the industry have never needed divergent thinking more.
FUELLING IDEAS
And on discovering that approximately 38% of the industry are thought to be neurodiverse, with a heavy over indexing of ADHD brains, I realised something – ADHD brains are the perfect fit for fuelling the ideas, creativity, and innovation that the industry needs to fight against the tsunami of challenges it’s facing.
But more importantly, ADHD talent needs and deserves the right tools, workplace culture and support to enable them to truly thrive in this industry, and not be held back by their neurodivergence.
FUELLING CHANGE
And on a more personal level, I want to help change the industry I love and now feel a perfect fit for, so that it’s the perfect place for minds like mine whether they are working in advertising and marketing now, or in the future, so they don’t have to get to the stage of burnout, impacting their mental health, or becoming another lost talent if they leave the industry altogether.
THAT’S WHY I SET UP FUELLED BY ADHD
To provide ADHD training, support and coaching to individuals working in the advertising & marketing industry, and for employers who want to support their ADHD talent to really thrive.
FUELLED BY IMPACT
Support that’s specifically tailored to the unique needs and demands of the industry, based on a 25+ year career of experience of navigating the industry with ADHD, and the practical skills acquired through formal ADHD coaching qualification.
This isn’t about ‘quick fixes’, or generic ‘off the shelf’ productivity tools (that frankly don’t fucking work because they don’t understand the fundamental challenge at the heart of ADHD – an interest based attention system).
It’s about giving them practical tools and support that actually function in their roles and personal lives, by understanding how to work with their unique, curious and creative ADHD brains rather than against it.
